Amy Cawvey, Incumbent Board Member

My name is Amy Cawvey and I am a current member of the Lansing USD469 School Board and a candidate for re-election.  I serve as the Republican precinct woman for my ward.  I am also the Kansas State liaison for Moms for America.

My family moved to Lansing in January 2016 after my husband of 31 years retired from the Air Force. My husband and I have three adult children and a grandson.

Traveling from assignment to assignment, I valued the opportunities presented for community involvement.  At my children’s schools, I served twice as president and once as vice president for the Parent Teacher Organization and I was an elementary school substitute teacher.  In the community, I have been a Boy Scout and Girl Scout troop leader, soccer and softball coach, and a volunteer sailing instructor. I ran for the school board to be a voice for the community,  especially parents.

In any decision, I pledge fiscal responsibility and to vote in the best interest of taxpayers, school staff, parents, and most importantly, students.

Qualifications

Amy Cawvey is THE most highly trained member of the Lansing Board of Education and proud to have earned the following credentials:

  • Nominee and graduate of the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) Leadership for Tomorrow program
  • Professional speaker and conference attendee for the Kansas School Board Resource Center
  • Conference attendee for the Learn Right Education Summit
  • Conference attendee for the School Boards for Academic Excellence (SBAE) conference
  • KASB Negotiations training attendee

Board Member Accomplishments:

As a a board member for the past four years, Amy Cawvey has represented Lansing well.  Here are a few of her most notable accomplishments:

  • Voted to remain revenue neutral (NOT raise property taxes) all four years.  The board has voted 4-3 to raise taxes the past three years and that's why we need you to vote for all three conservatives running:  Cawvey, Wood & Cromer
  • Introduced (and helped pass) the Parent's Bill of Rights
  • Curriculum Transparency (all curriculum is listed online, including library books
  • Library, classroom material and display policy to keep political ideology off the walls and out of classrooms
  • Gender policy to ensure "no secrets" are kept from parents and restricts shared bathrooms and locker rooms to members of the same sex.
  • Removed DEI professional development training and curriculum
  • Reversed unfair COVID leave policy for teachers and staff
